June Todd
Born in Delawana, NJ on June 1, 1920, June Todd died peacefully at home on July 28, 2016 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Brigadier General Alan Beresford Todd, Assistant Judge Advocate General, U.S. Army. June leaves behind five children, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and her long-term companion, Claudette Sewell. Mrs. Todd is survived by her children and their spouses, Susan and Larry Breckenridge (Charlotte, NC), James and Pat Todd (Hawaii), Christina Bostelle (Tacoma, WA), Alan Todd, Jr. and Sudie (Richmond, VA), and Brian and Dr. Nushin Todd (McLean, VA).

June met Alan when she worked as a legal secretary in a New York City law firm where Alan practiced maritime law. Later in life, June worked in the Arlington Public Schools' Health Department, at Taylor Elementary School, and as Principal's Secretary for Margaret McCourt Dirner at Abingdon Elementary School. With a busy life raising a family, travel and work, June still found time to volunteer at the American Red Cross during WWII; later volunteering at Arlington Hospital, the Ft. Myer Thrift Shop and as an Arlington Lady, representing the U.S. Army for military burials in Arlington National Cemetery. General and Mrs. Todd traveled the world, making homes for their children in North Carolina, New Jersey, Virginia, California, Japan and Germany before retiring in Arlington, VA. While living in Japan with her family, June Todd was instrumental in starting the first kindergarten for military children on the Army base in Sagamihara. Some of June's favorite times were beach vacations spent on the Delaware and North Carolina shores with her family, and being with her special friends for Monday bridge games.

A Memorial Service and burial will be held on September 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Old Post Chapel in Ft. Myer and Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Capital Caring/Ballston Office, 950 No. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22205; the Hospice organization of donor's choice; or the ASPCA.
