June Velda Stover, a Prineville resident passed away on December 19, 2010. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Prineville Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dusty Flegel will officiate.

June was born in Prineville, Oregon on July 14, 1931 to Lance & Alice (Walsh) Smith.

She grew up & attended schools Prineville in and graduated from Crook County High School in 1949. She married Dale Spencer Stover on July 6, 1951 in Portland, Oregon. In 1952 she received a 3 year Nursing Degree at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.

She worked as a nurse in Prineville for Dr. Atkinson, Dr. Wood and Prineville Clinic, then she worked at St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond in Obstetrics as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. She moved to Springfield in 1981 from Prineville, and then back to Central Oregon to Redmond in 2003.

June loved to garden; raising flowers, especially roses & dahlia's. She enjoyed socializing with family & friends. She was known as a very strong willed person and loved giving advice to others.

June is survived by her children; Marlene & her husband Tim Mangan of Bend, Oregon, Alidene & her husband Dennis Doherty of Issaquah, Washington, and Lance & his wife Caren Stover of Prineville, Oregon. Two grandchildren; Madison Doherty, Issaquah, Washington, Brad & his wife; Jamie Mangan of Klamath Falls, and three great grandchildren; Alex Mangan, Jacob Mangan, and Ellie Mangan all of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Dec. 1997) and her brother Don Smith (March 2010) .
