Katherine was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Dan and Fern (Estep) Boland. She married her true love, Lester Heinold, on July 28, 1951, in Deer Creek. He preceded her in death on Christmas Day 1999. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ron Boland, and one sister, Mary McCall.
Surviving are one daughter, Christine (Steve) Mylott; two sons, Mark Heinold and Robert (Holly) Heinold; five grandchildren, Kelley (Steve) Scharf, Casey (Amanda) Heinold, Erin (Pete) Vaughn, Nicholas Heinold and Kristopher Heinold; four great-grandchildren; her close brother, Jack (Darlene) Boland; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Katherine was foremost a Mom and homemaker, raising her family in the "Big House" in Deer Creek, occasionally working summers at Caterpillar Inc. in Morton. She loved canning tomatoes, fishing, garage sales, but most of all, her children, and playing on the floor with her grandchildren. Those who knew her could always find her on the front porch listening to a Cardinals game, lunching with the "girls" from Deer Creek or visiting with her dear friends and neighbors, Bud and Mary.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with the Rev. Dan McCall officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.
