Catherine "Katherine or Kay" Elizabeth (Bernier) Rohlf Price, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Born August 2, 1923 at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to Outterson and Gertrude (Buckley) Bernier. She attended St Gerard's School through the 8th grade and then attended her mother's alma mater, Ursuline Academy, where she graduated in 1941. While at Ursuline, she marched with Central Catholic High School's ROTC as a sponsor and modeled for local stores. During World War II she was a typist at Ft. Sam Houston making copies of medical supplies being transported overseas.
On January 9, 1943, she married John H. Rohlf, Sr. and they had five children. Through the years she was a Girl Scout leader at St Margaret Mary's School and St Peter's School. Her faith was important to her and she taught religious education for many years at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church. She owned and operated the Rohlf Mexican Pecan Candy Factory located at 527 E Grayson St. She later taught at Orange Goose Daycare and was the Assistant Director of the Southeast Baptist Hospital Daycare. After retiring, she cared for children in her home until she married Joseph Price in 2000.
During her life Katherine traveled to several interesting places like Rome, Medjugorje, Cancun, Mexico City, New York and Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husbands John Rohlf Sr. and Joseph Price, daughters Patty Wilson and Kathy Rohlf, and brothers Charles and Edward Bernier.
She is survived by daughter Elizabeth Valerio and son-in-law Michael Valerio, Sr. of Universal City, Texas, daughter Barbara Sunda of Douglass, Texas, and son John H. Rohlf, Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana Dr., San Antonio, Texas, on December 28, 2017 at 9:15 am to include a brief viewing, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 am and a Mass of Resurrection to begin at 10:00 am with Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
