Katherine Marguerte Branch Robles, 95, passed September 18, 2013 a year after her last brother, Joe Branch, passed in 2012. She was the oldest of 6 children born to Myrtle Mae Simpler and Samuel Franklin Branch on May 2, 1918, in Geronimo, Oklahoma.

During the Great Depression, Katherine's father was killed in an oil field accident and Katherine assumed responsibility for her family along with her mother. For the rest of her life Katherine took care of her brothers and sister. They were a close family and shared many of their life experiences together.

Katherine moved to San Diego during WWII along with her brother Travis. Katherine soon made friends and moved to Mission Beach. One rainy night she and her roommate went to a USO dance where she met Frank. They were married July 9 1944 and after the war was over settled in Oklahoma where their daughter, Laura, was born. Soon afterward they moved back to beautiful San Diego living in Pacific Beach and then La Mesa. Frank and Katherine moved to Alpine in 1974.

Katherine worked for Convair, General Dynamics and then San Diego State where she was a clerical assistant in the accounting department and from where she retired in the 1980's. She was active in the Alpine Woman's Club and served as president in the early 2000's. She and Frank enjoyed life in Alpine, traveled to distant places and enjoyed their grandson, Daniel John Roberts. She was able to meet Becky Anderson who will soon wed Daniel and whom she thought was just right for her grandson.
