Katherine Lorene Martin

Known as Lorene, Mom and Maw Maw, and loved by all, Lorene passed away on Friday June 2, 2017, surrounded by her family, after fighting a courageous battle to continue her life. Her body was tired and broken down, but her spirit for life remained strong. She is now in her glory. She is no longer tired or in pain. She is with the Lord, having earned a room and the glory she has richly deserved.

Lorene was born in Charleston on May 6, 1929 to the late John & Catherine Pring Craigo. She was a homemaker and the last charter member of Cathedral of Pray Baptist Church, Charleston.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, George William Martin; sons, Jimmy & Ricky Martin; great granddaughter, Caroline P. Hunter; brother, James Craigo.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, George C. & Bertie Martin, Brenda Kay & Dan Eisenmenger all of Charleston, Kathie & John Rogers of Beckley, John W. & Renee Martin and Jessie Brown all of Charleston; brothers, John Craigo Jr. of Charleston & Eddie Craigo of North Carolina; grandchildren, Jeff (Brandy) Martin & Scott (Shantil) Martin all of Charleston, Tom (Linda) Hunter of Jackson, MS., Gina (John) Myers of Kenna, Kim (Robert) Parker of Georgia, Jamie (Richard) Cumbridge of Danville, John Rogers of Beckley, Rickelle (Jesse) Harding of Lester, Samantha (Jesse) Bowman of TN. & Joshua (Sara) Martin of South Charleston; 20 great grandchildren & 3 great great granddaughers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday June 5, 2017 at the Cathedral of Prayer Baptist Church, Charleston with Pastor Kevin Norvall officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday June 4, 2017 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Church.
