Kathleen Mary (James) Newell, 75, of Westmoreland, passed peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by those who loved her on June 5, 2017.

She was born March 30, 1942 in Keene, NH, the daughter of Anne (Sullivan) and Clyde James. She attended Keene schools before moving a short distance to Westmoreland where she spent her adult life.

On Febuary 12, 1965 she married Harry G. Newell at a friend's home in East Swanzey during a midnight ceremony.

Kathleen had been employed in Westmoreland as a librarian and bus driver. She had also spent time working for Keene State College's physical plant doing filing. While there she also took on mending jobs for the employees who had clothing needing repair.

She stayed extremely involved with her children's schooling. She was a wonderful mother who cherished every moment spent with family. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had made numerous hats, pairs of mittens, and dish cloths that she donated to Project Share.

Kathleen will be great missed by her children: Vicki-Ann Mason of Swanzey, James Newell and his wife Sandy of Sullivan, Jennifer Poliquin and her husband Kenneth of East Swanzey, Michael Newell and his wife Susan of Swanzey, Larry Newell and his wife Carlene of Keene, David Newell and his wife Lorraine of Keene; eight grandchildren: Nicholas Grossi, Olivia Poliquin, Kristopher Newell, Paige Newell, Katie Newell, Melanie Lucius, Alyce Newell, Christine Wilkes; great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her sister: Joanne James.

She is predeceased by her loving husband: Harry G. Newell; daughter: Laurie Newell; sister: Carolyn Sprague; grandson: Kevan Newell; and son-in-law: David Mason.
