Katie Maass, of Colleyville, Texas, ended her courageous battle with dementia and cancer peacefully on October 30, 2017. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, Nana, Aunt Katie and friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on June 23, 1929 in Waters Park, Texas to Charles A. Paul and Emma Louise Schramm Paul. Katie was very proud of her German heritage and later in life found out that she was also Wendish on her father’s side. Through that discovery she learned that the Wends were a Slavic group of people that immigrated to Serbin, Texas and started demonstrating the making of some of the best egg noodles you have ever had at the Texas Folklife Festival in San Antonio, Texas. She was also a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Bedford, Texas for over 40 years. Her most recent favorite pastime was taking walks through the neighborhood with her best friend Doris.

Katie is survived by son Darryl Maass; daughter Sharon Matthews and spouse Allen Matthews; grandsons; Anton Maass and spouse Heather Hackett; Alex Matthews and Daniel Matthews; great granddaughter Aubrey Speed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Oscar Paul and husband of 55 years Robert “Bob” Maass.

There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 am on November 4, 2017 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville, Texas,
