Keith Leroy Dever was born in Longmont, CO on May 31, 1923. He was raised in eastern Colorado in New Haven and Yuma. Then to Lyons for his teen years where he took an interest in wood shop. He attended CU and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then joined the Army in 1944 at Ft. Leonard then on to Los Alamos. He returned home and married Marian C. Harrison in 1946. They lived in Loveland where he started a furniture business (Rocky Mtn. Pine Furniture Shop). They had four children, all of who are surviving him in death. Dan Dever living in Utah, Patricia Dever-Cavaleri in Longmont, Laura Dever living in Meeker Park near her mother and Bonnie Dever living in Boulder. Grandchildren: Craig Dever, Mike Dever, Bambi Darnell, Crystal Darnell and Cody Darnell. Great Grandchildren: Isabelle, Molly and Sawyer Dever and Eva Marie, Paige and Lexus Darnell. In 1966 he sold his furniture shop and moved to Meeker Park permanently where he has spent the last 41 years operating the Meeker Lodge. During his lifetime he enjoyed snow skiing and racing with his children and grandchildren. He helped form the Northern Colorado Ski Club (NOCO) in the sixties. He enjoyed hiking and hunting. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, Mexico, Alaska, Lake Havasu and Hawaii. He didn't quite make it to the Panama Canal, Chili or Australia. He belonged to the Elks, the Cosmopolitan Club, he served on the Allenspark Fire Protection District Board, belonged to the Allenspark Area Club, served on the Forestry Management Inc. of Allenspark and was a certified water operator. He acquired Diabetes not long ago which seemed to affect his life quite a bit. He was very active right up until his death Jan. 6, 2011 10:30 AM in the Estes Park Medical Center. A memorial will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Ave. Estes Park, CO 80517.
