Kelley DeLayne Lamendola died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 5, 2017 after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on April 14, 1967 in Dickson, Tennessee to Thomas Dewey (Jack) and Ruth Ann Henley Carson.
Kelley graduated from Franklin County High School in 1985. She attended Motlow Community State College and received a degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After graduation Kelley taught 6th grade in Cowan, Tennessee. The following year she traveled to Houston with her dear friend Lisa and continued her teaching career in Aldine ISD. Soon after, she moved to Sugar Land and taught in Fort Bend ISD for over 10 years, at Townewest Elementary and Brazos Bend Elementary. Kelley was the team leader of a very special group of kindergarten teachers. Gifted with kindness, patience, wisdom, a collaborative mind, and a wonderful sense of humor, she had a true passion for education and was named FBISD Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013.
Kelley married John Lamendola on July 10, 1993 and together they raised three beautiful daughters.
Kelley was preceded in death by her infant daughter Elaina, father Jack Carson and grandparents Caldwell and Edna Henley and Willie and Irene Carson. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Lamendola, daughters Macy, Sara and Gina, her mother Ruth Carson, sister Kim Gulley, nieces Abby and Alayna Gulley, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The family is grateful for the friendship and loving care provided by her neighbors, friends and staff of Compassus Hospice Care.
Kelley's faith journey began at Broadview Baptist Church in Winchester, Tennessee when she accepted Christ into her life at the age of eight. Kelley received the sacrament of confirmation into the Catholic faith and became a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church and enriched her faith by participating in area Bible Studies.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 7:00 pm, on Thursday, August 10 at Settegast- Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek Funeral Directors, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX. A mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 11 at 1:30 pm at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Boulevard, Sugar Land, TX with interment to follow at Forest Park East in Webster, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Ovarian Cancer Research or by calling 1-800-525-5841.
