Rev. Kelly Lynn Aiken, 74, of Morganton passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at Blue Ridge Medical Center - Morganton, following a period of declining health.
Kelly was born June 23, 1947 in Burke County to the late James N. Aiken and Betty Walsh Aiken. He was an ordained minister and was a man of strong faith. Kelly served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. from 1968-1969. He then worked for the City of Morganton as a police officer and was a NC Highway Patrolman in Jackson County and later retired from the United States Army where he served from 1975-1993. After retiring from the US Army, Kelly became a social worker for Child Protective Services in Morganton. Kelly was a loving husband and father and he also loved listening to music and playing the guitar at the Drexel Barbershop.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Taylor Aiken, of the home; daughter, Sharon "Sherry" Aiken; and brother, Mike Aiken and wife, Veena.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Service from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
A graveside service will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery at 12:30 PM with Rev. Gary Church officiating.
