Kim Monique Sims was born on February 23, 1959 in New York City, the first born of four children to Louise (Sims) Walker and Gregory Acosta. Kim attended New York City Public Schools and received her GED in the state of New Jersey in July 1981.
On March 10, 1979 she welcomed her first child, Kevin Richard Sims (pre-deceased). Kevin meant the world to her until his passing in September 1994.
Kim entered the United States Army in 1987 and was discharged from active duty in 1991 due to physical ailments. She remained an Army Reservist until retiring in 2005 with an Honorable Discharge.
Kim worked at Fort Belvoir, VA as a Dentac Unit Specialist. Kim honorably served in the military for 18 years.
On April 23, 1997 Kim welcomed her second child, Justin Gregory Sims. Justin was the joy of her life up until her passing.
Kim loved her sisters, Michele Bernardez (pre-deceased), Tracey Acosta (pre-deceased) and her little sister Nikki Langford to the moon and back.
Kim is survived by her only son Justin Gregory Sims of East Stroudsburg, PA, her little sister Nikki Langford of East Stroudsburg, PA, her brother-in-law Ronald Langford of East Stroudsburg, PA her father, Gregory Acosta and stepmother Tina Acosta of Pittsburgh, PA, brother Phillip Acosta of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Diann Acosta of Atlanta, GA, nephew Ryan Acosta of Alexandria, VA and nephew Kendell Bernardez of Manassas, VA.
Kim was extremely close to her extended family and friends as well, Cousins, RosAna Bullock, Cheryl Shivers, Chelle Campbell, Garnet McKnight, her Aunt Lottie Bullock, Uncle Dorsey Sims, Aunt Gail Holland, Uncle Gary Moore and Aunt Rosalind Moore. Her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jayden Bernardez, Janell Bernardez, Monica Acosta and Jerimiah Acosta. Best friends Kelly Vazquez of North Carolina and Danielle Patterson of East Stroudsburg, PA. Kim leaves behind a host of very close family and friends too numerous to name them all. Please know she loved ALL of you.
