Westcliffe, CO resident, Kirk Eugene Charbonneau, died October 11, 2014 in Pueblo, CO.
He was born March 2, 1944 in Beloit, KS to Dr. Eugene and Audra (Hoagland) Charbonneau of Osborne, KS.
After graduation from Osborne High School, Kirk attended McPherson College for two years and played football while in college. He later joined the Army National Guard and served for six years eventually becoming a Platoon Sergeant for E troop.
On April 2, 1967 Kirk married his high school sweetheart, Judy Elliott, also of Osborne.
Kirk worked for the Coleman Company in data processing in Wichita, KS for nearly eight years before training to become a Locomotive Engineer for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad in 1974. Within the AT&SF he served as a Locomotive Fireman, Engineer, Relief Road Foreman and Assistant Trainmaster. During his time with the Railroad he was a member of the United Transportation Union and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He later became a life member of the Colorado Railroad Historical Foundation.

After serving 30 years with the railroad, he and his wife Judy retired to the Wet Mountain Valley near Westcliffe. Kirk was instrumental in bringing American Legion Post 170 back to active status where he served in many different capacities including Honor Guard. He served God and country and was also a Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Sheri Hill, husband Laurin, and grandchildren Graham and Claire; son Kelly Charbonneau, wife Audrey, and grandchildren Kaylee, Colton and Kate.

A memorial service celebrating Kirk's life will be held October 22 at 11 am at the Wet Mountain Valley Saddle Club in Westcliffe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: American Legion Post 170, PO Box 424, Westcliffe, CO 81252.
