Kitty Lee Justice Goehrs went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30, 2017. Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with a visitation beginning at noon and the service to begin at 2:00 PM in the Sunset Chapel at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home. Kitty was born on June 27, 1928 in Nacogdoches, TX. She led a full life and was devoted to her family. As a teen she decided the country life of Martinsville, Texas was not for her, so she moved to the big city of Houston. There she lived with family and continued her education at night as well as holding down a job at Gulf Oil as a secretary. She loved being downtown and all that the city life had to offer. In 1948 she met Vernon Goehrs and they married in May of 1949. After marriage, she began her career as a homemaker and a mother. During the 1950's she and Vernon moved to the suburb of Memorial and for the next 20 plus years they had the challenge of raising three children, Gary, Paul and Leanne. They would live there in the same house till Vernon's retirement in 1988. Upon Vernon's retirement, she returned to the country life in Nacogdoches, Texas. Though while living in town, she loved to go to the family farm in Martinsville almost daily. She and Vernon both loved tending to their small herd of cows there. This gave her great joy and was something she continued to do up until the time of her illness. She was a member of many clubs, DAR, DRT and the Garden Club, as well as some genealogy clubs and investment clubs. While in Houston, she was a member of Memorial Church of Christ and upon her return to Nacogdoches, she was a member of North Street Church of Christ. Kitty was very well read and had many interests outside the home. She always had a newspaper or magazine article to give to her family and friends to further their knowledge. She loved to travel and never felt like she was unable to do so in her elder years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.O. Justice and Edna Perry Justice, and one sister, Bobbie Jean Justice Rawson. She was also preceded by her husband of 59 years, H. Vernon Goehrs. She is survived by her children-sons, Gary Vernon Goehrs of Austin, Texas and Paul Lynn Goehrs and wife Laura of Houston, Texas; daughter, Leanne Goehrs Kleine and husband Randy of Nacogdoches, Texas; granddaughters, Ashley Anne Kleine of Dallas, Texas and Emily Claire Kleine of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by many close nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, we know Kitty would love for donations to be made to North Street Church of Christ.
Arrangements under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas.
