Sue grew up in Hamlin, Texas. The daughter of a farmer, she learned about hard work at an early age. As a teenager, Sue met Ira and the two married when she was fifteen. Happily married and working, Sue completed her high school years, graduating with top academic honors from Hamlin High.
After high school, Sue worked as a nurse at Hamlin Memorial Hospital, and as an office nurse for Dr. Perrin. In 1957, she and Ira moved to Farmington, New Mexico where she worked for two years at Citizens Bank, then began her career in the oil industry working for Amoco. While in Farmington, the Lord blessed Sue and Ira with their daughter, Aleese.
Sue and Ira relocated to Kalkaska, Michigan in 1976. While in Michigan, Sue continued working for Amoco and retired in 1986 after 27 years of service. She and Ira moved back to Texas in 1987, settling in Abilene, where they could be close to family. While in Abilene, Sue was a member and actively involved at Southwest Park Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as financial secretary for 10+ years. She also loved to serve as a volunteer with the Abilene Baptist Association Social Ministries.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Silverado Memory Care in Plano for the love and care they provided Sue over the past 4 ½ years, helping to make every day the best it could be.
