LAWRENCE EDWARD JOHNSON departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria Virginia. Lawrence was born April 6, 1956 in Amherst County to the late Clarence Johnson and the late Doris T. Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in life by his stepfather, Early M. Johnson (Marion) and one son, Lawrence Edward Johnson, Jr.

Lawrence, "Tiny", "L J", and "Jay", as he was affectionately known graduated from the public schools in Amherst County. At an early age, Lawrence accepted Christ and joined the First Baptist Church Coolwell in Amherst, Virginia. He later enlisted in the United States Army in 1973 and served 11 years until he was honorably discharged in 1984. During his time in the military Lawrence received the U.S. Army Engineering Center Successful Completion of Power Generation Equipment Repair. Soon after his discharge, Lawrence was employed by Fairfax County Public Schools where he retired after serving 31 years.

Lawrence's family and friends describe him as a humble, hard-working man who was caring, kind, and dependable. He is remembered to be someone who enjoyed making you laugh. Later in life, he was a faithful servant at Trinity Missionary Church in Capitol Heights, Maryland where he served as a Trustee of the church. Before joining the body of Christ at Trinity, Lawrence was a member of Glendale Baptist Church (later named The Sanctuary at Kingdom Square) under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Anthony G.
