Obituary

Leisa Yurick age 88, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021 surrounded by her family. Leisa was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Harry and Ida Zink. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1950. She was accepted to The Juilliard School for her talent as a pianist, yet attended the Ohio State University where she was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and where she met the love of her life. Leisa became a physical therapist in the 1950s when PT was gaining its professionalism and became a pioneer in her field during the polio epidemic. She inspired two more generations of physical therapists.

Leisa was married for 61 years to her beloved husband Robert Yurick, MD. Together they embodied dedication to education and careers, hard work and most importantly, family. Leisa was the ultimate host, cook, and caregiver. Her home was a refuge where her family could relax and enjoy each other, especially for Sunday night dinners and holidays. She was happy and fulfilled as long as her family was together. She even mastered technology as another way to stay in touch with her loved ones. Leisa was a member of the Cleveland Yachting Club for 51 years where she enjoyed boating and sunning on the Cast Off. She was an avid shopper, gardener and baker. She loved her family vacations to her home in Naples, Florida, cruising in the Caribbean and visiting the country of her ancestors, Sweden. Leisa was regarded as a grandmother by many and a giver to all.

She is survived by her daughter Linnea Michels (Greg), son Robert Yurick (Heidi-deceased); granddaughters Kelsey Michels (Eddie-fiance), Kristi Michels, MD, Lauren and Lindsay Yurick; nephews Greg, Gary and Randy Zink and families.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and brother Edward Zink.
