Leonard James Karasek, 71, of Rainbow, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2017 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He was born in East Bernard Texas to Willie and Marcella Karasek November 14, 1945. He was provided his second chance at life in June 2013 after receiving a bilateral lung transplant.

Leonard was a loving and passionate man who loved his family. His hobbies included tinkering with auctions, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved and enjoyed visiting with friends and family while raising his auction number to bid. The thing he enjoyed the most out of life was family gatherings.

Leonard was a Pipe Fitter by trade and worked at Brown and Root Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose, Texas for the majority of his working career.

Leonard was an extremely loving father to two daughters, Tina Enochs (deceased), and Catherine Regina Harrison and her husband, Chip of Glen Rose. He had two grandsons, David Harrison and Christopher Harrison of Glen Rose which were his pride and joys. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Gene Karasek and wife, Evelyn, Wilburn (Buck) Karasek and wife, Shirley, Daniel (Chick) Karasek and wife, Bernadette and 1 brother-in-law, Melvin Kinser and wife, Cindy. He had 3 sisters, Deloris (Karasek) Marquess (Deceased), Dian (Karasek) Peschel, Charlene (Karasek) Henneke, and one sister- in-law, Mary (Kinser) Faircloth and husband, Tim. He had the pleasure of sharing his life with 8 nephews and 11 nieces and their spouses and children.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Margie (Kinser) Karasek, daughter Tina (Karasek) Enochs, father Willie Karasek Jr., mother, Marcella (Orsak) Karasek, sister, Delores (Karasek) Marquess, mother-in-law, Clydie (Smith) Kinser, and niece, Kathy (Baize) Karasek.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Leonard's transplant physicians, Dr. Heath White and Dr. Juan Sanchez of Baylor Scott and White Hospital. These two physicians are responsible for providing Leonard with an additional four years of life and took great care of him after his lung transplant. He lived his life to the fullest and the family thanks them for the additional time they provided us with him.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1-2 PM at Riley Funeral Home followed by graveside service at 2:30 PM, Pottsville Cemetery.
