Leroy was born to Crowder Chaney and Theresa Mae Davis on October 7, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois.

He graduated from Du Sable High School in 1968 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1977.

From 1989 to 2014 Leroy served his community faithfully as a driver for the Chicago Transit Authority. He dedicated his life and love to his family and was affectionately known as "Dumpling".

Leroy enjoyed old westerns that he would call the "Shoot'em Up's", playing basketball and baseball, trains, listening to his old school music and fishing.

On September 10, 2016 Leroy transitioned into his new beginning.

He was preceded in death by his mother Theresa Mae Davis and grandmother Genevieve "Jimmie" Mae Davis.

His love will live on in the hearts of his father Crowder Chaney; sisters Theresa Walton and Jaqueline (Eugene) Mallett; niece Simone Walton, nephew Eugene (Toya) Mallett; great nephews Niko Rossand Vincent Mallett, great nieces Brandy Ross and Samantha Mallett and a treasured aunt Louise Wilson. Leroy had a special love in his heart for Brenda Bowes and Patricia Holt along with her children Jonathan and Nia who he adored dearly.
