Richard Cazaubon, age 68, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2014, at The Sanctuary of Passages Hospice, after a 5 year battle with cancer. He was a resident of Metairie, LA for over 40 years. Richard was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Arthur Pascal Cazaubon, Sr. and Hazel Blum Cazaubon. He was preceded in death by his half sister, Marie Scarborough, his brother Arthur P. Cazaubon, Jr., and his sister Darleen Cazaubon-Jones. He is survived by his 3 children, L. Richard Cazaubon, Jr., Courtney C. Guidroz, and Evan D. Cazaubon, his son-in-law Al Guidroz, his 2 grandchildren, Ethan A. Guidroz and Ella E. Guidroz, and his sister Kathleen C. Regouffre (Norman). Also survived by his nieces, Pamela R. Folse and Rhonda R. Hodo, his nephews, Norman E. Regouffre and Christopher J. Cazaubon; as well as many cousins and great nieces and nephews. Also survived by Aunt Gloria Blum, and his former wife, Janet B. Cazaubon.
Richard graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1963 and served in the Air National Guard. He worked as an insurance salesman for New York Life for over 20 years. He volunteered his time as a coach in Jefferson Parish at Girard Playground for 25 years. His hobbies included gardening, keeping his lawn well manicured, and listening to bands and dancing with his many friends at The Max Lounge in Metairie.
We would like to thank his physicians, Dr. Paul Spring and Dr. Laura Brinz, the many physicians, nurses, and nursing assistants at East Jefferson General Hospital, his nurse Laurie from Passages Hospice, and the staff from The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice.

Relatives and friends of Richard are invited to attend the funeral service at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Visitation will be from 11 am- 2 pm, with a mass following immediately after. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Philip Neri Church and the American Cancer Society.
