Lessie Lee Rock Litzsinger, the beloved wife of the late Donald Joseph Rock, the late Richard Tipton and the late Leonard Litzsinger, passed away after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and the challenges of that disease. Lessie is survived by daughters: Patricia Rock Spann (Baxter), Susan Rock Horst (Roger), Sally Rock Wallace (Kenny), Liz Rock Lund (Danny); stepchildren: Sherri Saunders (Steve), Michael Litzsinger and Karen Mays (Tim). She was known as "Gramy" to her 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Lessie is also survived by her sister, Donna Haas (Doug), her brother, Norwood Pitre and her sister-in-law, Gennie Pitre. She was preceded in death by her brother, James C. Pitre and sisters: Genevieve Babb, Dolores Kostick and Emma Joy Fontenot.
Lessie was a loving woman from Ville Platte, Louisiana, the daughter of Marshall Pitre and Bridget Brignac Pitre Fontenot. She attended Ville Platte High and was in the graduating class of 1952. She enjoyed playing on the basketball team, singing in the choir and marching in front of the band. She spent her life caring for her loved ones and sharing her love of cooking with all. She loved eating red beans and rice on Mondays with Donna and Gennie, spending time with her children and grandchildren, wearing the color pink, watching the New Orleans Saints, drinking red wine, and praying the Rosary.
Lessie's daughters would like to thank the loving and supportive staff of the Tom and Gail Benson Cancer Center and the Neuro ICU Critical Care Nurses at Ochsner Hospital. Lessie will be greatly missed while her loved ones continue the tradition of time with family well spent, enjoying her love of cooking and sharing her recipes for generations to come.
