Lilia "Liling" Guevara Doreza, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the loving home of her family in Gurnee, Illinois.

Liling was born on July 25, 1918, in Iloilo, Philippines, to Lorenzo and Rosario (Gavilan) Guevara. In her time in Iloilo, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Colegio de San Jos. This was a result of her affection for caring of young minds as a career educator, which led to her teaching first and second grade students at St. Vincent De Paul Learning Center and retiring at the age of 60. She also spent time as a choir member at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, and owned and managed a local dress shop.

Liling married Major Primo Doreza, the love of her life for 61 years, on March 28, 1942 at the Jaro Cathedral. Her husband's love for her was ensured by Liling's loyalty and devotion to her family.

Liling was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by her children, Mariano (Bella) Doreza, Rosalinda (Conrado) Doreza Dizon, Esmeraldo (Pat) Doreza and Resurrection (Mae) Doreza; her grandchildren, Franz Doreza, Fritz Doreza, Karl (Jessica) Doreza, William Doreza, Sarah Doreza, Paul (Susan) Dizon, Lilian Dizon, John Dizon, Maranda Doreza, RM Doreza and JM Doreza; her great-grandchildren, Oliver Doreza, Hadley Doreza, Isabel Dizon and Olivia Dizon; and her siblings, Patricio Guevara and Victoria Guevara Gachon.

In addition to her husband and son, Primo and Edsel Doreza, she was predeceased by her siblings, Roberto, Feling and Teodoro.

Please join her family in celebrating Liling's life. Her final visitation will be at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee, Illinois at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 pm noon. A wake will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, Illinois, 60031
