WALLO, Lillian Burch, 91, died in the comfort of her home, November 14, 2017. She was surrounded in life by her family, who are grieving her loss. The ever faithful support of her son, Nelson, is beyond compare. He never left her side throughout her long, courageous battle with illness. Lillian was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Paul Wallo Jr.; parents, Grace E. Burch and Lucian R. Burch; and two brothers, L.M. Burch and R.S. Burch. Left to cherish her precious memory are her loving children, Raymond P. Wallo (Jo), Virginia W. Snellings (Stanley), Katheryn W. Sponsler and Louis N. Wallo (Patricia Terrell); nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary B. Baker. She retired from Henrico County, was a long-time member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, former member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, and of the Varina Junior Womans' Club. She was a guardian angel to all that she loved. Her greatest accomplishments were her family and her home. Her residence, in its majestic, park-like setting, reflected many years of skilled gardening and it became her sanctuary for a peaceful and simple life. She also enjoyed cooking, was an excellent seamstress, and created many beautiful things for her loved ones. From the grace of God, she was also blessed with very devoted caregivers, Rebeca, Sandy and Patti, to whom the family sends their most heartfelt love and gratitude. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17, at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church, 1919 New Market Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be conveyed at
