Linda Ruth Stine, 76, passed away peacefully June 9, 2017, at her home in Portland.

Linda Ruth Olson was born in Portland, Oregon on May 6, 1941 as the only child of Swedish immigrants John and Ruth Olson. Linda's father died when she 4 and her grandparents Sven Erik and Emma played a pivotal role in her upbringing.

The family moved to Hillsboro in 1949 when Linda's mother married Hans Streitwieser. Linda gained a loving sister, Alice, in the marriage.

Linda graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Portland State University with a teaching license and the University of Washington with a Master's Degree in Education. She started her teaching career with Portland Public Schools and then to Hillsboro School District where she taught for 20 years. Linda believed that learning was the foundation for the future and was based on a child's maturation. All students were unique and valued.

Linda married the love of her life, Kermit Stine, in 1966 and they had two children; Erik and Dagny. Family meant the world to Linda and she went on to teach her children the connective power of family bonds.

Linda enjoyed volunteering with kids in the Hillsboro and Beaverton School districts, at Providence St. Vincent's Hospital, and in the community with her PEO chapter. Her greatest joys were cheerleading for her grandsons and spending time traveling with her family and friends. The Oregon Coast and Black Butte Ranch were extra special to her and Starbucks and Hagen Das bars were right up there as well.

Linda is survived by her children; son Erik Stine (Leann Owens), Kyle and Spencer Fork; daughter, Dagny Stine Abel, (Neil) and grandsons McLean and Theron, and her kitties, Gus and Gabby. Proceeded in death, her parents, John and Ruth, husband, Kermit, and sister, Alice Morgan.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Saturday, July 8th, Skyline Memorial Garden, 4181 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland Or 97229.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Oregon and SW Washington, 2620 N. Commercial Avenue, Portland OR 97227.
