Linnea (Nelson) Dooley, 89, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Harold E. Dooley, died Saturday (May 20, 2006) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Varmland, Sweden, daughter of the late August and Christina (Andersson) Nelson, she had lived in Windsor since 1920. Linnea graduated from the former John Fitch High School, Windsor in 1935 and had been an active Girl Scout leader many years. She had worked for the Hartford Seminary during W. W. II and retired as Personnel Director and Employee Supervisor for the former G. Fox & Company. She had been an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Hartford and currently a member of the First Church in Windsor Congregational where she had been active in the churches choirs, a soloist, and as a Sunday school teacher. Proud of her Swedish heritage, Linnea narrated a WIN-TV program about Swedish neighborhoods and growing up in Windsor during the 1920s and 1930s called “Windsor Remembers”. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband Harold. She leaves her two daughters Sarah Carol Dooley Sard of NY, NY and Marian Hutchinson and her husband Raymond of Vernon; five grandchildren Kristen Sard and her husband Charles Thayer, Andrea Hutchinson, Erin Baumgart and her husband Brian, and Eric and Kara Hutchinson; a great grandson, Odin Sard Thayer; her dear and helpful brother-in-law Edward W. Dooley, Jr and his wife Rose of Windsor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Sweden and the USA. She was predeceased by her brother, Adolph C. Nelson and a sister Elsie Fleming. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service Tuesday, May 23, 2006, 2 pm at the First Church in Windsor, Congregational, 107 Palisado Avenue, Windsor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Swedish Cemetery, Portland. Contributions may be made to the First Church in Windsor, Congregational. The Carmon Windsor Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
