Lloyd Cecil Hummel, 89 of Mesa, AZ passed away in Wilmington, NC on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

He was the son of Mary (Whitehead) and Cecil D. Hummel born in Webberville, MI on June 16, 1928.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers DF, JC, and Thurlow (Bud), a sister Juanita Lane, a daughter Connie (Hummel) Gertz, and grandson Kevin Grainger.

Lloyd lived in Michigan in his first 40 years and later moved to Arizona. He enjoyed his work as a journeyman machine repairman and spent most of his spare time outdoors enjoying nature, tinkering and basking in the sun. He could fix almost anything. He worked in Michigan for Oldsmobile, Sears, MSU and International Paper Company. He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Webberville and worked for the city of Williamston and Leroy Township as a police officer. Later, after moving to Arizona, he worked for Tally Industries.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol (David) Grainger, Cynthia (James) Bates, and Cecelia (Dwayne) Williams and six grandchildren, Laura Grainger, Karen (Doug) McCune, Jeremy Davis, Matthew Kinch, David (Lori) Bates, Daniel (Melissa) Bates and 15 great grandchildren.
Friends and family may pay their respects at a graveside service conducted by the American Legion Post 296 at the Webberville Cemetery on October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am with a gathering following at 2971 Meech Road, Williamston. Military and public service was a large part of the Hummel family serving in the military and as volunteer firefighters, and having three grandsons currently working as firemen,
