GREENFORD TOWNSHIP-Lloyd Prescott Dewey passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, one day after celebrating his 92nd birthday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. Mr. Dewey was born in Youngstown on July 26, 1917 the son of the late Lloyd Barton and Lula Mae (Prescott) Dewey. A World War II veteran, he enlisted in the United State Navy in 1941 and became a combat photographer based in the South Pacific. He worked into his late 70’s designing rolling mill equipment and extrusion presses. He retired from Wein Engineering. Mr. Dewey took up flying after World War II and obtained his commercial and instructors pilot ratings. He loved writing and was published in several sailing magazines and engineering publications. Mr. Dewey was a past commodore of the local Power Squadron and belonged to the Boardman Camera Club. Mr. Dewey leaves behind his wife Martha Mayers Dewey. They met while attending South High School in Youngstown and were married for 72 years. He leaves behind a son Gary Grant (Elizabeth) Dewey of Naples, Florida, two daughters Susan Parish of Clayton, California and Sharon Dewey of Canfield, Ohio; two grandchildren Gavin Dewey of Phoenix, Arizona and Kaity Parish of Walnut Creek, California and a great grandson Grant William Dewey. There will be no services or calling hours. If friends desire, memorials may be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 St. Rt. 165, Canfield, OH 44406.
