Lois Allene Erickson Jackson, 87, formerly of Rock Island, passed away, Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

Service and visitation location have been changed. Funeral services will be held at 10AM , Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Lois was born March 20, 1927, in Rock Island, Illinois. She lived on the same street all of her life.

Her parents were Emil P. & Mabel R. Bollinger Erickson.

She attended Rock Island Public Schools, played in the school bands and graduated from Rock Island High School and the Rock Island Business College. She attended night school at Augustana College and played French Horn for 2 years in that symphony orchestra and one year also played cornet in the band.

She was formerly employed at the former International Harvester, Farmall Works in Rock Island, and occasionally worked at the former Boot Hobby Shop in Rock Island.

Lois married Thomas M. Jackson on December 15, 1946 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island, where she was a life-long member. She was a member of the former Two-by-Two Couples Club and the Ageless Group of the church, serving as coordinator of the group for 4 years. In the early years she taught Sunday School and helped with the junior choir.

She served as Den Mother in the Boy Scouts of America for 6 years.

Lois was also a member of the Blackhawk Genealogical Society of Rock Island and Mercer CO, Ill., Quad Cities Computer Club, Keystone Neighborhood organization, Community Caring Conference, and Coalition of Rock Island Home Owners.

She enjoyed needlecraft; photograph; genealogy- having collected data, written and printed 11 volumes of her and her husband's lines; traveling; hiking and her pets; but her shining spot in her life was her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her friends and being sustained by her abiding faith in God.

She is survived by her sons; Robert W. Jackson and spouse Sheila of Moline, Murrell R. Jackson and spouse Diane of Reedsburg, WI; two grandchildren Thomas R. Jackson and spouse Mackenzie of Moline, and Emily M. Clack and spouse Matt of Playa del Rey, CA; and great grandchildren, Brenden H. Jackson and Alex R. Jackson, both of Moline; and special lifelong friends Mary Allis Snowden, Rock Island and Margaret Wadsworth, Rock Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
