Eva Lois Beard Harris, 84, passed away Friday, July 22nd, 2011, at Baptist Hospital of complications due to heart failure. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday, July 24th at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond, MS. The service will be held at Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned at 2 pm on Monday, July 25th followed by burial at Old Lebanon Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Harris Guider of Utica, and son William (Bill) Conrad Harris, Jr. and wife Lisa of the Lebanon community. She was a beloved grandmother to Will, Emily, and Rebecca Harris of Lebanon, Susan Guider of Richland, Meredith Guider of Pelham, Alabama, and Alison Guider of Utica.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Jackie Beard of Raymond, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William Conrad Harris, parents Gatsye Melvin and Emmett Napoleon Beard, brother Graydon Beard and wife Carolyn, brother Dale Beard, and son-in-law John Guider.

A native of Ellisville, Mrs. Harris was a graduate of Jones Junior College and Mississippi College with a degree in Education. She taught English for over 25 years to students at Flora, Raymond High School, REBUL Academy and Mt. Salus Christian School. She also tutored reading at Hinds Community College after her retirement from teaching. Earlier in her career she worked at Mississippi Power in Laurel.

Mrs. Harris was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church where she served faithfully in Women of the Church. She was active in the Lebanon Home and Garden Club, an Earth Team Volunteer for the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation Dept., a member of the Raymond Culture Club, Raymond Rebounders, and the Lady Landowners Association of Hinds County. She enjoyed the many programs offered by the CLR club of Hinds Community College as well as swimming at the Baptist Health Plex in Clinton several times a week. She also enjoyed traveling with friends.

Pall Bearers will be Will Harris, Steve Beard, Jerry Beard, Hal Liddell, Roy Liddell, and Joe Liddell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery Trust Fund, Palmer Home or French Camp.
