Lottie (Betts) Clayborn, 97, of Rockford passed away Friday November 17, 2017. Lottie was born on February 15, 1920 in Madison, AL, the daughter of Walter and Richetta (Moore) Betts. She married John H. Clayborn on August 2, 1936 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2003.
Lottie was a great servant and faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, she loved to cook and spend precious time with her family and friends.
Lottie is survived by her sisters: Gertrude Evans of Sun Lakes, AZ, Ethel Coleman of Cleveland, OH and Bernice (Fred N.) Houston of Temple Hills, MD; special nieces Genese Pride and Patricia Scruggs; devoted niece Lottie (Sylvester) Barnett; special nephew Oliver Hammonds, Sr.; special great-nephew Nicholas (Sarah) Pride; many-many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of special friends.
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents; her two adopted children Kenneth Clayborn and Melvina Clayborn-Brown; 7 sisters and 5 brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be used in Lottie's name.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Amberwood Care Centre for the love and care that was given to Lottie.
Visitation for Lottie will be Friday December 1, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. A service to celebrate Lottie's life will be 9:00 am Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 3645 W. Riverside Blvd in Rockford with a visitation from 8:00 am until 9:00 am at the Kingdom Hall. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
