Louis H. Ramsey
March 21, 1922 - November 12, 2017

Louis Herbert (Lou) Ramsey, age 95, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, surrounded by family. He was born March 21, 1922, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to Louis Monroe and Mary Etta Hardin Ramsey. He was a 1941 graduate of Pontotoc High School, 1943 graduate of Texas A&M, and 1951 graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He was a veteran of World War II, serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He served the Pontotoc community as a pharmacist for over 40 years and was co-owner of Ramsey-Young Pharmacy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontotoc, the Pontotoc Lion's Club, the U.S. Marine Corp League and the Pontotoc American Legion.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church. On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, visitation will be held in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church from 11:30 am until the service at 2:00 pm. Dr. Ken Hester and Rev. Marcus Coward will officiate. Burial will be in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his son, Larry Ramsey (Connie) of Pontotoc; his daughter, Leigh Ann Ross (Brendan) of Jackson; his grandchildren, Logan Ramsey (Lauren) and Mary Charles Ramsey; sister-in-law Jean Clements of Pontotoc; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Kathleen Pritchard Ramsey; his parents; his brother, Monroe (Bogue) Ramsey; and six sisters, Nona Ramsey, Callie Tucker, Earline Guymon, Onice Privette, Laverne Fiveash, and Laverlin "B" Baker.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Aaron, Brad Litton, Harry Patterson, Jeremy Robinson, Robert Welch, and Jimmy Wise.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pontotoc First Baptist Church, 31 West Washington Street, Pontotoc, Mississippi 38863, or to the Lions Club International Foundation, Department 4547, Carol Stream, Illinois, 60122-4547.
