L.R. "Bob" Johnston, passed of natural causes on May 2, 2012 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center in Corydon, IA at the age of 88.

He was born near Allerton, IA to Emmet and Edna Johnston and was later joined by a brother Keith who preceded him in death as did his mother and father. He attended Clio School and also served in the Navy during WWII.

Bob lived most of his life in Wayne County and farmed east of Clio. He married his sweetheart, Marilee on October 20, 1943 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Bob was not only an avid farmer but also loved and raised Black Angus cattle. He also enjoyed antiques, collecting pocket knives and Allis Chalmers tractors.

Bob is survived by his wife Marilee, two sons, Robert Lee (Risa) Johnston of Clio, IA and Randy (Kathy) Johnston of Kellerton, IA; grandson Mark (Karie) Johnston of Platteville, WI; granddaughters Kaylee Johnston of Green River, WY and Chelsey Johnston also of Green River, WY and Michelle (Eric) Randolph of Corydon, IA; great grandchildren Nolan and Haylee Randolph of Corydon, Brady and Cooper Johnston of Platteville, WI, and Brayden and Maggie May Lennon of Green River, WY; and many more family and friends.


Memorials will be directed to the Wayne County Hospital Dialysis Unit.
