Louise May (George) Bradley, 87, of Vesuvius passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Richmond on March 7, 1930, a daughter of the late James Bernard and Edna Eva (Ripley) George.

Louise was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and the Montebello Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years and also worked as an electoral official. Gardening, canning, knitting, reading and working on crossword puzzles were a few of Louise's hobbies. Louise often spoke of her love for the mountains; from her youthful summers at Camp Alkulana first as a camper and later as a counselor. Following many years in the flat lands, Louise and Lyle finally came home to their mountains. She will be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend; as well as for her gentle spirit.

In addition to her parents, Louise was greeted into Heaven by her husband of 62 years, Lyle F. Bradley and her brother, Roland George, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, L. Keith Bradley of Staunton, Becky Deal and her husband, Warren of Gloucester and Karen Asaro and her husband, Larry Felton of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Grace Fauber and her husband, James "Shorty" of Vesuvius; friends, Ruby Jean Moore, Pastor Fred and Reba Salmons; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, 7140 Irish Creek Rd., Vesuvius, with Pastor Fred Salmons officiating. Burial will follow at Haines Chapel.

The family will receive friends following the burial for a time of fellowship back at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Louise's memory to the Treasurer-Montebello Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, P. O. Box 96, Montebello, VA 24464.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Louise's friends at Gertie's Country Store, her neighbors, and her church family for all the care (especially after Lyle's passing) and prayers for Louise and her family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
