Loyce Ruth Weathers Snyder, born March 9, 1930 in Abilene, TX, died peacefully at home on November 11, 2016, after a brief illness. Loyce is survived by her son John Snyder, daughter-in-law Kathy Snyder, grandson Karl Snyder, and many beloved and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Loyce was the eldest of the two children of Foy C. and Erby Lee Moser Weathers of Abilene. She was preceded in death by her sister Gail Weathers Kellar, and her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph R. Snyder.

Loyce graduated from Abilene Christian College and worked as a preschool and elementary school teacher in Houston, Victoria, and Odessa. Her love of children and natural creativity made her a teacher fondly remembered by generations of her former students. Loyce was also a talented artist, and her paintings have become cherished family heirlooms throughout her extended family. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother.

Loyce's love of God and the church was at the core of her being. She was a serious student of the Bible and sought to guide her life by the spirit and teachings of Christ. She was a much loved Sunday school teacher and a role model for many children in the Churches of Christ where she and Joe served. She was known and loved for her generosity and encouragement to many less fortunate than herself.

Viewings are scheduled at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa, TX on Thursday, November 17, from 10 AM-4 PM and Friday, November 18, from 4 PM-9 PM. A graveside service at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Odessa Christian School, Midland Christian School or Foster's Home for Children in Stephenville, TX.
