Lucille Ann (Corrie) Schnitz passed away at 1:06 PM on October 7, 2014 at Burgin Manor in Olney, Illinois. She was born on February 23, 1922 in Orio, Illinois to Vera Elizabeth (Shadle) Corrie and Samuel Earl Corrie. Lucille married Ernest Schnitz at the home of her parents on January 11, 1942.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Ernest Herman Schnitz; their infant son, Larry Ernest Schnitz; her sisters Mary Bliss Corrie (infant), Alice Louise Corrie, and Martha Lillian Goodwin.

Lucille was a 1940 graduate of Bridgeport Township High School. During World War II, Lucille followed her husband throughout the U.S. during his military service. After later moving to West Salem, Lucille and Ernest became owner/operators of the Stop and Shop Grocery Store during the 1960s and 1970s. With the help of Lucille, Ernest later farmed on their Sesquicentennial Farm in Wabash County.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Louise Krejci and husband Ken Krejci of Villa Grove, Illinois; son Gary Wayne Schnitz and wife Mary Katherine Schnitz of Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Kyle Krejci and wife Mindy Krejci of Macon, Georgia; Brian and Megan Schnitz both of Carmel, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem, Illinois on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 2:30PM to 3:30PM. A Celebration of a Life Well Lived Service will be held at 3:30PM with Pastor Mike Rucker officiating.

Following the funeral, burial will be in the Cunningham Cemetery located on the five-generation Schnitz family farm on Highway 11 near Lancaster, Illinois.

Lucille and Ernest Schnitz have been 50-year members of the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucille's name to the Church. Ingram Funeral Home of West Salem has been entrusted with the arrangements.
