Lucille Ann Hayden Brennan (1925-2014)
Lucille Ann Hayden entered into eternal rest on 8/4/2014. Known by all as "Toots", she died peacefully at her home in La Puente, CA, in the company of her family.
Lucille was born on 9/4/1925 in Whitten, South Dakota. She was raised in Avon on the Skagit, graduated from Mt. Vernon High school in 1942, and continued her education at Seattle University obtaining a degree in Sociology.
In 1947, Lucille married John Patrick Brennan and left her beloved Skagit Valley and Hayden family to make her home in Southern California. Although she lived happily here for sixty seven years and raised eleven children, she continued to think of the Skagit Valley as her home. The values that she learned from her parents and the farming community sustained her throughout her entire life and continue to be passed onto her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lucille loved gardening, flowers, hiking, enjoying the outdoors with her husband, reading and writing poetry, all forms of music including playing the piano, singing and dancing.
Time with her husband, children and grandchildren was a priority in her life and provided much enjoyment.
Above all, Lucille was a woman of faith. She lived it moment by moment and inspired the rest of the family to follow her example. She took great pride in her commitment to the Religious Education Program at Saint Joseph Catholic School which provided an opportunity for her to share her faith. In addition to being a religious educator, she also served as a lector and a Eucharistic Minister.
Lucille is survived by Cecilia, Gary, Pat, Theresa, Kathleen, Matthew, Mary Ellen, Kevin, Melissa, John; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, and her beloved siblings Theresa Reiman and Patrick Hayden. She was preceded in death by her husband John Patrick Brennan and her son Mark.
When we think of you Mom, how can we keep from singing!

In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in Lucille Anne Brennan's name to St. Joseph Catholic School Education Program, La Puente, CA.
