Lucille Harpster, 82, died at 3:40 p.m. April 8, 2012, at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.

She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Logan County to Ralph and Lula Barns Fry, who preceded her in death. On April 4, 1950, she married Roger E. Harpster, who survives in Roundhead Township.

Mrs. Harpster was a homemaker. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8832 Auxiliary, Roundhead, and the Lawrence Valley Grange. She was a 1947 graduate of Lima South High School. She had been a member of Roundhead United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, who took a great deal of care of her children and grandchildren. She was a good cook and thoroughly enjoyed Christmas and Thanksgiving. Her family always looked forward to her German chocolate cake and cherry delight, as well as her pie baking. She also loved her canning.

Survivors also include four sons, Gary (Karen) Harpster, of Belle Center, and Daniel (Jennifer) Harpster of Waynesfield, Timothy (Tracie) Harpster of Wapakoneta and Stephen (Amy) Harpster of Waynesfield; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bryon and Eugene Fry; and five sisters, Eleanor Moore, Norma Velasco, Helen Shellenbarger, Marjorie Rockhill and Edith Currence.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. The Rev. Philip Brenneman will officiate. Burial will be in Roundhead Cemetery, Roundhead.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
