Lucy Mae Haney
Lucy Mae (Tatterson) Haney, 89, of Fairmont passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Center.
She was born in Fairmont on April 28, 1922, a daughter of the late C. Clyde and Rosa (Fleming) Tatterson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jobie C. Haney in August of 2002.
Lucy was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and a member of Walnut Grove Church. She was a charter member of the Women's Club of Walnut Grove Church. She served on numerous committees for the church and was the Sunday School secretary for 30 years. God, family and church were very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Haney and his wife Doris of Fairmont and Dave and his wife Shirley of Fairmont, one daughter, Jonell Louise Ervin and her husband Jim of Fairmont, eight grandchildren, David J. Haney and his wife Lisa of Fairmont, Alison H. Bontrager and her husband Matt of Indiana, Chad R. Haney and his wife Buffy of North Carolina, C. Ryan Haney of Huntington, Jimmy Ervin and his wife Shannon of Morgantown, Jeremy Ervin of Florida, John Priolette of Rivesville and Wendy McDaniel and her husband Shawn of North Carolina and ten great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kelce, Cameron, Haley, Jayden, Catelyn, Nicole, Lukus, Colton and Isaiah.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Garlow of Fairmont and Helen Crone and her husband Bill of Oakland, MD, and her extended family, Mark and Cheryl Weaver, Gary and Kim Weaver, J.L. and Mit Abbott and also six step-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Charles Tatterson, George William Tatterson, Carl Edward Tatterson, and Wilbur Clyde Tatterson, four sisters, Pauline Reynolds, Alma Hayhurst, Olive Vincent and Sarah Wilcox, a great-grandson, John David Priolette, a step-granddaughter, Tina Priolette, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. Fairmont on Wednesday from 1-9 pm and on Thursday from 10 am – 2 pm. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 2 pm with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Walnut Grove Women's Club c/o Judy Tatterson, RR4, Box 366, Fairmont, WV 26554.
The family would like to thank the employees and staff at the Arbors of Fairmont Nursing Center for all of their wonderful care and compassion of Lucy during her stay there.
