Luella A. Rentz, age 91, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, passed away Friday morning at the Napoleon Lutheran Home.
Born June 23, 1920 in Ridgeville Corners, the daughter of August P. and Anna (Beckman) Rathge. On May 19, 1946 she married Burl J. Rentz and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2000.
Luella retired in 1986 as postmaster of Ridgeville Corners. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners, the church Ladies Aid and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a U.S. Navy veteran. She was a member of the American Legion Post, Ridgeville Corners, a life member of the Napoleon AMVETS, the Henry County Historical Society, Ridgeville Fire Department Auxiliary, the Henry County Hospital Auxiliary and the American Red Cross. She was voted Women Of The Year in 1992.
Surviving is one son Jeffrey Rentz, Ridgeville Corners, daughter in law Linda Rentz, Napoleon, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Paul J. Rentz and Joanne (Chris) Junge and a great grandson Calvin Junge; one brother Clarence Rathge, Albuquerque, New Mexico, two sisters Leona Henry, Ridgeville Corners and Lucille Bauer, Edon, Ohio.
She was preceded in death also by one son James Rentz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rev. Vicky Coombs, officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans posts of Napoleon and Ridgeville Corners.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio, on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgeville Corners Rescue Squad or to the church.
