Luella (Page) Roam passed away quietly on September 20, 2017 at the age of 95 at Brookdale in Midland, Texas.
Luella was born on September 7, 1922 in Bloodland, Missouri (a town which no Ionger exists in what is now Ft. Leonard Wood), the only child of William Homer and Minnie (Prewett) Page. Before the age of 20, she had graduated from Crocker (MO) High School and Iberia (MO) Junior College and was teaching all grades in a one room school house. During World War II she worked for the U.S. Post Office. She married Fred H. Roam on February 5, 1945. As the wife of a Missouri State Highway Patrolman she became a homemaker and was responsible for organizing the moves that came with Fred's job. She was also a nutritionist (never failing to tell all in the family to eat their vegetables), seamstress (curtains, quilts, and many of John's shirts when he was a boy), traveler (to most of the lower 48 states) and reader (including over 1500 books on tape after her vision became limited in recent years). After retirement Fred and Luella relocated to Midland, Texas.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 66 years.
She is survived by son John H. and wife Deborah Roam; grandson Matt and wife Allison Roam and great granddaughter Kayden Roam and great grandson Matthew Wade all of Midland, Texas.
A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, September 22, 2017. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1 PM with Rev. Robb Foreman of Home Line Baptist Church officiating.
The family wishes to express its thanks for the care provided for Luella at Brookdale and the wonderfully loving care provided by Martha Ramirez and her incredible caregivers over the last two years.
