Luke, sometimes referred to as Ryland, Rye, or Rynos, was born in North Richland Hills, Texas to Luke Randall Matarelli and Tina Kay Matarelli on April 8, 1986.

Ryland, however, was raised in Bartonville, Illinois and attended Limestone Community High School. Luke adored his hometown and loved to stay close to his family and many friends. While shy at times, he was typically very social and loved being around people, with his loving smile always being seen and recognized throughout Bartonville. Rynos had a passion for riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, starting as a child, enjoying the peacefulness and serenity of the outdoors whenever possible.

Rye loved to spend time with his family, girlfriend, and daughter and enjoyed the simplicities of life, including barbecues, movies, and family time. He was an avid chef, constantly creating new recipes; he particularly enjoyed preparing ribs and making different kinds of beef, turkey, and venison jerky to share with his family and friends. His cooking truly was second to none, and will always be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to experience it.
He always put other people's feelings before his own, often buying gifts or bringing over food, or taking time to help out with anything just to show he cared and loved them. He would constantly drop what he was doing to go help a friend in need, which set him apart to those who knew him. His kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration, and love were felt intensely and will be greatly missed and remembered.

Past employment included welding at Case New Holland in Goodfield and becoming the region's top-producing store manager at Speed Lube in Pekin, where customers appreciated his charm and sincerity. He had also practiced one of his passions while working as a chef at Oscar's Family Restaurant. Furthermore, he had proven to be a skilled heavy equipment operator and was being mentored by his father in residential and commercial real estate.

Rynos, above all, loved to work alongside his hero, mentor, best friend, and father operating as a gifted mechanic, electrician, and plumber for the family's rental properties. They shared a friendship and bond, the kind only a close and like-minded father and son could have, constantly growing together and teaching each other throughout life, as only best friends could.
Luke is preceded in death by grandparents Luke and Norma Matarelli and Janice Nelson, whom Rye had a great relationship with and deeply loved, respected, and missed.

Luke is survived by his daughter Ainsley Matarelli, siblings Ashley Nicole Matarelli and Randall Landon Matarelli, and parents Luke Randall Matarelli and Tina Kay Matarelli. He is also survived by five cousins and many aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be his father, brother, and close friends of the family.
Memorials may be given to a fund for his daughter.

The Matarelli family wished to extend our sincere thanks to OSF St. Francis Medical Center of Peoria, Illinois.
