Madelyn D. Ammann, 101, a resident of Winchester, NH and long-time resident of Hinsdale, NH, passed away peacefully at the Applewood Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, following a period of declining health.

She was born May 4, 1916, in Hatfield, MA the daughter of James and Minnie (Donovan) Boyle. On June 14, 1941 she married the love of her life: Paul A. Ammann.

For many years she worked for the New England Telephone Company as an operator. She also worked for Hinsdale Elementary School where she was very active in the PTA, Clark-Colton Insurance Company in Hinsdale and the Hinsdale Race Track. She was also a member of the Grange and the Historical Society.

Her caring spirit spread to all those who knew her as "Mom", even those who were not children by blood knew that her compassion and unconditional love came to them too. She was always sharing her "spunky" personality with those she met. She had a very special place in her heart for animals, especially her dog King. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed learning about other cultures, especially Polish, since she was around this culture the most when she was child: She was even able to speak in Polish.

She is survived by her son: James F. Ammann and his wife Marcia of Winchester, NH, her daughter: Rita Hill and her companion Duncan Gillespie of Charlestown, MA, seven grandchildren: Leila Bate, Paul Wilson, Jason Ammann, Eric Ammann, Jennifer Battilana, Christopher Hill and Becky Hill, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband, her daughter: Mary Wilson and her husband Douglas, her son-in-law: David Hill and several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brattleboro Rd, Hinsdale, NH. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hinsdale. Family and friends are invited to call on the family from 10 to 11am at the church.
