Maida Garcia (Magdalena) formally of Monrovia, CA, died peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at her home in La Mesilla, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso Garcia of Los Luceros, NM, son Alfonso Jr. of Azusa, CA, parents Teofila and Jose Vialpando of Canones, NM, brothers Isais (Joe), Juan, Jose de Leon, Lonecio and sister Vera Martinez as well as many relatives and friends.

She is survived by daughter Lucille Delapenha and husband Steve Delapenha of La Verne, CA, Joseph Peter Garcia of Monrovia, CA, daughter Deborah Garcia of La Mesilla, NM, brother Richard Vialpando and his wife Amada of Canones, NM. Maida was a grandmother of five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Custer Christiansen Mortuary in Covina, CA from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm and a Catholic mass will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Azusa, CA followed by her burial at 1:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Maida was a woman of grace who loved to cook and dance. She is deeply loved by all and will be greatly missed. The family of Maida Garcia has entrusted the care of their loved one to the Custer Christiansen Mortuary of Covina, CA.
