Mamie Jean Blount, 88 of Hale Center, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 23, 2017, in Lubbock, Texas. Through her passing, Mamie showed us what God's grace, mercy, and faith looked like.

Mamie was dedicated to serving her family, friends, and beloved pets. She enjoyed reading, watching old westerns, painting, but most of all cooking for her family and friends. Mamie was dedicated to being a wonderful wife and mother to her family.

Mamie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hale Center. Mamie was born Mamie Jean McQueen to Claude and Stella McQueen on February 1, 1929, in Amarillo. Mamie married James Weldon Blount on December 19, 1948, and resided at the family farm south of Hale Center until moving to an assisted living home in Lubbock in 2015.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, J. Weldon Blount in 1998, a son Stephen Cole Blount in 1986, and an infant son, Stacy Jay Blount in 1962. Mamie is survived by three sons, John Blount and wife, Julia of Cotton Center, Shane Blount and wife, Kathy of Hale Center, Tracy Blount and wife, Linda of Post and a daughter in-law Jeannie, and her husband Billy Stephens of Petersburg. Mamie is also survived by 1O grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center at 2:00 pm under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home with Carrol Green and Kris Knippa officiating. Interment will follow the services at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock. The family will offer a time of visitation and remembering Mamie at her home on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. There will also be a visitation at the church from 1:00 pm until services at 2:00 pm.
