Manda Johns, 46, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Manda was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 12th, 1971. She is survived by her husband Wally Johns, daughters Janelle and Jenafer Johns, granddaughter Kylie Clarke, father and mother Robert and Karen Mostler, and brother Robert Mostler.
Manda attended Jupiter Christian School in Jupiter, Florida from kindergarten until she graduated in 1988. While living at Riverbend in Florida, Manda became the first girl allowed to have a newspaper route for the Courier Journal. She was involved in many school activities, she played the trumpet in the band, played tennis, was on the swim team and was captain of the cheerleading squad. Once she graduated, Manda attended Palm Beach State College and majored in Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services from 1988-1991. In 1991, she had her first child, Janelle, and became a working mother. She and Wally decided in 1994 to make a huge move to Colorado while Manda was 7 months pregnant with her second child, Jenafer.
While in Colorado Manda worked in a Denver Safeway grocery store until she became the Director of Sales and Marketing at Safeway. This position then took Manda and her family to Danville, California in 2002. After a year, Manda took a position in Maryland with Ahold where she was the Vice President of Bakery/Deli. Manda then moved to Richmond, Virginia and took a position Supervalu Inc. as the Director of Bakery/Deli. She spent the next 11 years working her way up to become the Senior Vice President of Merchandising Eastern Region in August of 2015.
During her time in Virginia, Manda was involved in many community and volunteer events. She was the Volunteer Coordinator for the Richmond Christmas Parade from 2008 to 2011. In 2008 Manda, along with Supervalu, helped raise much needed money for the Golden Slipper Camp, which is a camp that provides kids from low income homes with a safe place where kids can be kids. That year Manda was honored as one of the Golden Slipper Angels and her name will always be a part of the Golden Slipper Camp as there is a plaque at the obstacle challenge course with her name on it. In 2012 Manda was honored as one of the top 50 women in grocery as someone who thinks outside-the-box and ensures that employees are motivated and engaged in the business.
Throughout her life, Manda always lived up to the meaning of her name "loveable". She spent her time going on adventures with husband, Wally, and daughters to Turks and Caicos, St. Kitts and enjoyed skiing, hiking, boating, going to Old Dominion University football games, going to Camp Chief Ouray with her mom, aunt, and good friend Ashley, trying out new restaurants, going to the movies, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Manda was a happy, strong, smart, and loving woman who could take charge of any situation and turn it into fun. She was the life of the party and could make anyone feel comfortable and laugh along with her. Her remarkable and exciting life will be celebrated at Kabana Rooftop Bar and Grill on Saturday May 13th from 10am to 1pm. Colorful clothing is encouraged as Manda was such a lively and vibrant person, let us honor this.
In lieu of flowers we ask that Manda's friends and family make an Honorary Donation in Manda's name to the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health and aid their effort to cure and treat cancer. See the information and link below for more information.
