Margaret Alma Rinaca Higgs, 77, of Luray, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.

She was born Feb. 6, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Patrick Henry and Emma Frances Griffith Rinaca of the Rinaca's Corner area of Shenandoah.

Mrs. Higgs was a longtime poultry farmer and also worked at Shenandoah Knitting Mill and Luray Textile. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Shenandoah and the Va. Poultry Growers Association.

Her husband, Leroy Junior Higgs, preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1994.

She is survived by a son, Kevin L. Higgs of Henrico, Va.; a daughter, Kelly H. Bell of Luray; one granddaughter, Tessy L. Bell, and one grandson, Brady P. Bell; brothers, Gerald, Allan, Melvin and Charles Rinaca, all of Shenandoah, Lynn Rinaca of Biglerville, Pa.; sisters, Dorothy Bass of Emporia, and Eleanor Sampson of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Philip, Inman and Kenneth Rinaca, and a sister, Vivian Morris.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray with pastor Patti Covington officiating.
