Margaret was born on September 2, 1946 to Louis and Catherine Furtado. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Kerman, CA. Her mother passed away at the young age of 43, and Margaret stepped in as the mother figure for her younger siblings, Shirley, Louis Jr., Frank, and Joseph. Margaret also became the guardian of another member of the family, Jesse "Moosie" Williams, who was a newborn baby. Their brother Lawrence passed away at the very young age of 3. After graduating high school in Kerman, Margaret went on to become a cosmetologist. She went on to open her own beauty shop on Madera Ave in Kerman. Margaret's Modern Salon became an important part of the hub of the very small town at that time of Kerman. At the age of 29, she met and married Herman Leo Sandbothe of Fresno. Herman and his 2 children, Leo & Susie, moved to Kerman and became a part of the wild and crazy Furtado family. Margaret and Herman went on to have two children of their own, Jonathan and Herman "Tutor".
Margaret enjoyed square dancing, jeep poker runs, attending the Hard Top Races at Kearney Bowl, cooking, baking cakes, and of course, spending time at Pismo Beach.

All of the kids in the neighborhood would flock to the Furtado home on Jensen, and at one time when young, had 20 people living in the house. If you ever needed anything, you could count on Margaret and the family to open their home and hearts.

Margaret and Herman had many happy years together until his passing. Even till her death, Margaret truly served as the matriarch of her family.

Margaret is survived by her children, Jonathan Sandbothe & his wife Kelly of Texas, Herman "Tutor" Sandbothe of Kerman, Jesse "Moosie" Williams & his wife Kim of Fresno, Leo Sandbothe & his wife Cindy of Riverdale, and Susie and husband Jerry Miguel of Kerman.

She is also survived by her siblings, Louis Furtado, Joseph Furtado, Shirley Baptista and husband Louis. She had 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 nephews, 1 great nephew, 8 surviving Aunts & Uncles, and many cousins.

Margaret was a mother and friend to every one she met. She was loved by many.
