Margaret Gilbert Berger
June 15, 1921 - December 15, 2017

Margaret Gilbert Berger passed away at her home on Friday, December 15, 2017. She was 96 years old and she lived a full life filled with love for her family and friends.

Margaret was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Classen High School and the University of Oklahoma. At OU she joined the Chi Omega Sorority, and was a lifelong member of the organization. She met her husband of 61 years at a XO mixer before World War II. During the war while Bob served overseas, Margaret volunteered at Tinker Air Force Base making meals for young pilots training for the war effort. They were married in 1945 after the war.

Margaret and Bob moved to Midland in 1951 and raised five children here. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Margaret was the ultimate mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was always available for them and there were few times in her life when she did not have some of her family around her. She was a very fun lady who enjoyed life, traveling, and card games.

Margaret and Bob joined Holy Trinity Episcopal Church when they moved to Midland, and they were members of the church for over fifty years. Margaret was involved in many charitable organizations in Midland, and she was very concerned about the needs of others.

Margaret had many, many friends, and foremost among them in her later years was Berenice Gomez, who helped her in the home and was a wonderful companion. Another great companion was Sandra Reynosa who spent many hours with Margaret in the evenings. She was also helped greatly by caregivers from Nurses Unlimited and most particularly by Diane Marques, Faith Farusa, Darlene Wilson, Frances Ratliff, Bob Anglin and Wanda Hill. The family would also like to thank Cindy Manley and Hospice of Midland for the care and devotion to Margaret's comfort.

Margaret is survived by her son Walter Berger and his wife Gloria from Denver, Colorado; her son Byron Berger and his wife Gail from Conejos County, Colorado; her daughter Patti Gensert from Midland; her son Kent Berger and his wife Shannon from Midland, and her son Eric Berger and his wife Carrie from New Orleans, Louisiana, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will a visitation at Ellis Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 1pm.

Donations in Margaret's honor may be directed to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, Trinity School of Midland, or the Buffalo Trails Council Boy Scouts of America.
