Margaret Mary White Poorman, 88, passed away on the morning of November 22, 2017. Margaret was born on March 13, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK to Ernest James White and Juliana Haugherty White. After her mother's death when Maggie was 8 months old, she was raised by her adoring father and aunt and uncle, Bertha and Dan Boismier on a farm outside of Yukon, OK.
Maggie graduated from The University of Oklahoma, where she met Frank Poorman, Jr. They were wed on August 19,1950 and enjoyed a loving and dedicated marriage of 61 years. Due to Frank's career with Shell Oil Company they were transferred often, living in Oklahoma, Illinois, Texas and Louisiana. While in New Orleans, Maggie earned a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. During the 1960s and 1970s she worked for the state of Louisiana, the last few years as a Psychiatric Social Worker specializing in counseling families about children's issues. After Frank's retirement he took a consulting job in Bangkok, Thailand where they had a wonderful time exploring their new surroundings. Maggie was extremely intelligent and enjoyed convivial company and conversation. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and was a much appreciated chef.

Maggie was predeceased by Frank and her eldest daughter, Juliana (Jill) Poorman Minor. She is survived by her children, John Kevin Poorman (Jeanne) of Wilmette, IL; Janice Poorman, Margaret Denson and Catherine Beck (Michel), all of Houston and her son-in-law, Thomas Minor of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving her are her beloved grandchildren: Joshua Minor (Glen), Jacob Poorman (Diana), Dr. Elisabeth Poorman, Elena Lamonica (Trent), Juliana Rubenson (Brad), Emma Poorman, Emile Beck and Gerard Beck. She felt blessed to have 4 great grandchildren, Zara and Joseph Poorman and Lucia and Viviana Lamonica. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and nephew, Patricia and Michael Caldwell of Tulsa, OK.

Services will be held on December 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, TX.
