Mariam Taylor Mikesell, our sweet mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away March 13, 2012 at the age of 88. She passed in her sleep after complications from a stroke. She was the sixth child of eight children born to Leonard Jabez Taylor and Zella Mae Cranmer in Springville, Utah. Mariam loved and honored her parents. She often reminisced how she never heard a cross word spoke between her parents. She was a devoted wife to her husband Stapley and enjoyed laughing and loving together for 66 years. She was a caring mother and as a grandmother she made every grandchild feel adored. She was famous for her family Easter egg hunts and enjoyed camping with her family at Posey Lake. A hobby she loved was gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was a fine baker and cook, and worked with the Nebo School District lunch services. Her expertise in pies and rolls showed her early years of experience. Her first job was working in a bakery as a young lady of sixteen in her home town of Springville.

She was married to Stapley Jr. Mikesell on August 29, 1942. Mom was a young bride of 19 when her husband was called to serve in the South Pacific, just a few months after being married. When the war was over, mom and dad lived in Springville with their four children. In 1950, they moved to their first home in Spanish Fork, Utah. On April 15, 1955… with six children and one on the way… the Mikesell family was sealed together for all eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple. In 1958 they moved to the community of Spring Lake, Utah, where they raised their family of seven. Mom lived in her beloved community for 64 years. Mom loved the Lord by serving others. She enjoyed singing in the church choir as a youth and as an adult. She enjoyed being a visiting teacher and worked with the little children in many capacities for the LDS church.

She is survived by 5 children: Sharon (Lynn) Jacobson of Spring Lake, UT; Lynda (Larry) Wright of Salem, UT; Dale (Brenda) Mikesell of Payson, UT; Stanley (Sharie) Mikesell of Payson, UT; and Kim (Cyndy) Mikesell of Riverton, UT; a sister, Ruth Duke of Pleasant Grove, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Karrie Mikesell of Twin falls, ID; sister-in-law, Betty Mikesell of Quincy, CA; and 26 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stapley Jr. Mikesell; sons, Larry and Bert Mikesell; a daughter-in-law, Luann Mikesell; her parents; and a great-grandson, Bo Wilson & 6 brothers & sisters.

Thanks to the Curo Hospice group… Dr. Bennon, Dr. Kimball, Rebecca, Andrea, Abby, Mytaya, Pam and Dave. Special thanks to the Spring Lake Ward members for your watchful care; Bishop Benson, Mark Marvin, and the Relief Society sisters.

Mother, "Ye have endured to the end, and ye shall live."

Services will be Friday, March 16, 2012, 11:00 AM, in the Spring Lake 1st Ward Chapel, 12625 S. Spring Lake Road where friends may call 9:30-10:45 a.m.
